Queensland Writers Centre is the State’s premier writing organisation. Use this site, Queensland Writers Centre, to find information on workshops, services, tutors and writing resources in your corner of Queensland. You can also become a QWC member, register for workshops and purchase books and services.
Join QWC and become part of the state’s premier writing organisation! Members receive Writing Queensland, our monthly magazine, which includes articles on writing by top Australian authors, industry news, and lists of competitions and opportunities. Members can also access support and information from helpful QWC staff on all industry-related questions.
Web benefits of QWC membership include access to the members’ directory. You can list your writing services. Access our members-only section with its news and bulletin board online, online members’ forum, and online bookshop and workshop registration facility. In addition, members receive a 10 per cent discount on books and can attend events at a significantly reduced fee. As a member of QWC, you also become an affiliate member of the Arts Law Centre of Queensland, giving you access to free legal and accounting advice.

Writing groups are a great way to support and motivate each other in your writing. QWC can organise guest lectures by writing professionals to supplement your regular meetings. QWC staff in editing, structure, characterisation, life stories, and other areas by request. * Writing Groups requesting this service must be QWC members.

The Australian Writer’s Marketplace

Brisbane Writers Festival
The Brisbane Writers Festival has held the place of Queensland’s premier literary event for twelve years. The festival brings the world of writing and ideas to Brisbane, showcasing local, national and international writing to Brisbane and the world.
For five days in September each year, the festival takes over the spectacularly re-developed State Library of Queensland (next to the iconic Gallery of Modern Art and Queensland Art Gallery) in the South Bank cultural precinct alongside the Brisbane River.
