Drawing on experiences such as fencing, timber work, cattle handling, remote teaching as a governess, and extensive travel through lesser‑known regions of Australia, Sharon brings a depth of lived experience that enriches every page of the book.

The idea for Fences, Gates and Posts of Rural Australia began during long road journeys with Sharon’s husband, where conversations about fencing styles revealed how boundaries define land, ownership, and history.
